Data can present itself in various formats—sometimes as numerical values, checkboxes that customers select, or even as text that's not formatted the way you need. Fortunately, there's a powerful tool available to help you adjust and tailor text to meet your specific requirements. The “Text Formatter” tool allows you to take text from any field and modify it according to your needs. Let's walk through the different options available, starting by clicking the "+" icon to add this action. You can find it either by scrolling through the internal tools or by using the search bar.
Once you've clicked on the tool, you'll need to choose how you'd like the text to be formatted. The tool offers several formatting options:
Text Case Conversion
This option modifies the capitalization of the text, offering four distinct styles, each providing a preview of the result:
Upper Case: Converts all characters to uppercase.
Lower Case: Converts all characters to lowercase.
Title Case: Capitalizes the first letter of each word.
Capitalize: Capitalizes only the first letter of the text.
Text Substitution
Default Value: If the text field is empty, this option replaces it with a specified default value.
Replace Text: Replaces occurrences of specific text with a new value.
Remove HTML Tags: Strips out HTML tags, leaving only plain text.
Text Length Adjustment
Trim: Cuts down text to a specified length, either by removing characters from the beginning or replacing the end of the text with ellipses.
Trim Whitespaces: Removes extra spaces from the beginning and end of the text.
Split: Divides the text into segments based on a chosen delimiter, and you can select which segment to use as the new text.
Text Length Measurement
Word Count: Displays the total number of words in the text.
Character Count: Provides the total number of characters in the text.
Text Information Extraction
Find: Searches for the first occurrence of a specific pattern within the text and shows its position.
Extract Email: Identifies and retrieves the first email address from the text.
Extract URL: Identifies and retrieves the first URL from the text.
