Google Ads: EU Political Ads Compliance Section

Modified on Fri, 19 Sep at 6:20 AM

What’s New?
We’ve added a new
EU Political Ads section
 in the
Google Ads
 campaign builder flow, directly
under the Geographic Location
settings.
  • Advertisers are now required to declare whether their campaign includes
    European Union political ads
    .
  • A mandatory selection field (Yes/No) has been introduced.
  • A “
    Learn More
” link redirects users to Google’s official policy guidelines.
How It Works:
  1. While setting up a Google Ads campaign, navigate to the
    Audience Controls
     section.
  2. Under Geographic Location, you will now see the new
    EU Political Ads
     field.

  1. Choose one of the two options:
  • Yes
     - if your campaign contains EU political ads.
  • No
     - if your campaign does not contain EU political ads.
  1. This selection is mandatory before proceeding with campaign creation.
Why It Matters:
  • Ensures
    regulatory compliance
     with EU advertising laws.
  • Protects accounts and advertisers from potential
    ad disapprovals or account restrictions
    .
  • Aligns Platform Ad Manager with Google’s latest campaign creation requirements.
  • Builds
    trust and transparency
for political ad campaigns in the EU region.
Notes:
  1. This setting applies only to Google Ads campaigns.
  2. Campaigns without a declared option cannot proceed to publish.
  3. Compliance with political ad policies is essential for advertisers targeting audiences within the EU.
