What was happening?
When you dialed a number that
never reached
the recipient’s carrier, the system played the normal ringback tone immediately
. Seconds later the call dropped - so it sounded like a ringing call suddenly failed. What’s changed?
- New “Connecting” tone
We now play a short,
connecting tone
while we're still trying to reach the carrier. - Authentic ringback
The familiar ringback tone starts
only after
the carrier confirms the destination device is actually ringing.- Accurate feedback
If the carrier can’t be reached, the call ends cleanly after the connecting tone - no more “phantom ringing.”
Why you’ll love it
Before After
False sense that the call was ringing Clear “connecting” cue vs. real ringing
Abrupt, confusing disconnects Predictable, network-like behavior
Agents wasted time redialing Instant clarity - move to the next lead faster
Scope & Exceptions
- Applies to:All accountsby default.
- Exception:Accounts that have enabled“Connect me to the lead after the call-recording message ends”(Settings → Phone Numbers → Advanced Settings → Voice Calls → Outbound Call) will retain the previous ringback logic.
You will not hear the connecting tone in most calls because the connections are too quick. But when the need arises, you will hear a tone closer to the truth!
